Marketing Intern


Digitally Lit: Atlantic Canadian Youth Read is seeking a savvy marketing and event strategist to join our team for a two-month internship. This is an excellent opportunity to work with Atlantic Canadian publishers, award-winning authors and bright motivated youth between the ages of 13 and 25 across Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will also gain valuable marketing experience, supporting the promotion of a wide variety of titles and more important, the on- and offline literacy and critical and creative capacities of future generations.



  • Manage Digitally Lits social media channels
  • Assist in the development, distribution and/or promotion of a wide range of digital media materials, including a pan-Atlantic survey, all related social media, event posters, press releases and any youth-designed minimum viable products
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing and event plans relating to the development of digitally based youth engagement strategies as well as the logistical coordination of interprovincial youth focus groups
  • Provide regular updates to the Management Team, either in person (if in the HRM area) or via teleconference, email, and telephone communications
  • Other administrative duties as required.



  • Related undergraduate degree or college diploma
  • Strong social media experience, including the use of social media management systems like Hootesuite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, versatile environment
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • An appreciation for and familiarity with Atlantic Canadian literature
  • Ability to think and thrive outside the box
  • Familiarity with mixed media content development considered an asset
  • While these duties must be performed remotely,  preference will be given to applicants based in Atlantic Canada.


The internship will begin February 1, 2020 and run contractually until March 31, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to work approximately 2 hours daily. Kindly note: pending funding, this position has the potential to expand beyond March 31, 2020. Regardless, an honorarium of $2500 will be paid to the intern at the close of this two month internship.
